Overview of Steel Sheet Piles
Steel Sheet Pile is widely used in large and small waterfront structures. Steel Sheet Piles are rolled steel sections consisting of a plate called the web with integral interlocks on each edge. The interlocks consist of a groove, one of whose legs has been suitably flattened. Jindalai steel offers stock availability and customization of the cut to your specifications.

Types of Steel Sheet Piles
Z-type Sheet Piles
Z-shaped sheet piles are called Z pile because the single piles are shaped roughly like a horizontally stretched Z. The interlocks are located as far away from the neutral axis as possible to ensure good shear transmission and increase the strength-to-weight ratio. Z piles are the most common type of sheet pile in North America.
Flat Web Sheet Piles
Flat sheet piles work differently from other sheet piles. Most sheet piles rely on their bending strength and stiffness to retain the soil or water. Flat sheet piles are formed in circles and arcs to create gravity cells. The cells are held together through the tensile strength of the interlock. The tensile strength of the lock and the allowable rotation of the lock are the two main design characteristics. The flat sheet pile cells can be made to huge diameters and heights and withstand a great deal of pressure.
Pan type Sheet Piles
The pan shaped cold form sheet piles are much smaller than most other sheet piles and are only intended for short, lightly loaded walls.
Application of Steel Sheet Pilings
Sheet piling has various applications in civil engineering, marine construction and infrastructure development.
1-Excavation Support
It provides lateral support to excavation sites and prevents soil erosion or collapse. It is used in foundation excavation, retaining walls and underground structures such as basements and parking garages.
2-Shoreline Protection
It protects coastlines and riverbanks from erosion, storm surges and tidal forces. You can use it in seawalls, jetties, breakwaters and flood control structures.
3-Bridge Abutments & Cofferdams
Sheet piling supports bridge abutments and provides a stable foundation for the bridge deck. The sheet piling has the usage for creating cofferdams for constructing dams, bridges and water treatment plants. Cofferdams allow workers to excavate or pour concrete in dry conditions.
4-Tunnels & Shafts
You can use it to support tunnels and shafts during excavation and lining. It provides temporary or permanent stability to the surrounding soil and prevents water ingress.
