Overview of 316 Stainless Steel Steel Round Bar
ASTM 316 is an austenitic chrome nickel steel with superior corrosion resistance to that of other chrome nickel steels. SUS316 Stainless Round is widely used in applications when exposed to chemical corrodents, as well as marine astomosperes. 316L Stainless Round Bar has very low carbon that minimizes carbide precipitation due to welding. 316L Stainless is widely used in marine applications, paper processing equipment and many other applications were moisture will be present.

Corrosion resistance of Stainless Steel 316
Demonstrates corrosion resistance to natural food acids, waste products, basic and neutral salts, natural waters, and most atmospheric conditions
Less resistant that the austenitic grades of stainless steel and also the 17% chromium ferritic alloys
High sulfur, free-machining grades like Alloy 416 are unsuitable for marine or other chloride exposure
Maximum corrosion resistance is achieved in the hardened condition, with a smooth surface finish
